    Claude-Jean-Baptiste Hoin was a famous French portraitist who was born and died in Dijon. Hois was born in 1750 and passed away in 1817. He was the son of Jean-Jacques-Louis Hoin, a famous surgeon and encyclopedist. In addition to numerous portraits, he also made miniatures and landscapes, painting with pastels, gouache and engraving. In 1785 he was appointed painter to the king's brother, Count of Provence, the future Louis XVIII....
