    Clemente Tafuri was an Italian painter and illustrator born in 1903 in Salerno, Italy, and passed away in 1971 in Genoa, Italy. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and gained recognition for his work between the 1920s and 1960s. Tafuri was known for his advertising poster designs, illustrations of postcards and book series, as well as his depictions of episodes from the Second World War. He created portraits of notable figures such as the crown prince Umberto II of Savoy and Queen Elena of Montenegro. Tafuri's painting of the deputy brigadier Salvo d'Acquisto is particularly famous and is displayed at the Historical Museum of the Carabinieri in Rome.
