    Clintel Steed, born in 1977, is an African-American artist who grew up in a small dominantly Pentecostal Salt Lake City, Utah community. He was raised in several homes and spent a lot of time alone when he was younger. His first experience with fine art came in a very unlikely place. His mother had hung in her bathroom two prints; one being the 'Mona Lisa' and the other 'The Boy In Red' by Goya. He remembers spending a lot of time just staring at these works and being amazed by them.

    In completing his BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago, he realized that becoming an artist would be his life. The world was way bigger then the small God fearing community that he grew up in Utah.
