    Clyde Jones, a former mill worker and resident of Bynum, near the Haw River in Chatham County, has been creating his unique critters and paintings since 1982. He is known for his exuberantly-painted creations and has welcomed fans to see his work at Critter Crossing on Bynum Hill Road. Jones has participated in demonstrations and benefit events for local organizations and charitable causes. In 2002, he was honored by the Chatham Arts Council as the first "Chatham County Cultural Treasure," leading to the establishment of Clydefest in his honor.
