Colin H. Davidson was born in 1961 in Donaghadee, Co. Down but now lives in East Belfast. Though mainly a self-taught artist, he did attend a local college for a short time. It was here that he discovered his slight colour blindness, making it difficult to identify certain green and brown tones.

Serving a four year apprenticeship in Harland & Wolff seems to have had a profound effect on the artist, who has expressed his sincere respect for the men and women who were employed there and the hardships they suffered.
