Colt Idol was born and raised in northwest Montana and has remained living there. After participating in high school and college basketball, he pursued a career in art with the guidance of his father. Among his subjects are wild animals such as elk, antelope, coyote, lions; birds, landscape and Native American scenes.

He has been painting for four years and now lives in Whitefish, where he is able to enjoy the Rocky Mountains and the Flathead Valley daily.
