    Cuthbert Rigby was born in Liverpool in 1850.

    Rigby was initially apprenticed to be an architect at the age of 15. He was accepted by the Royal Academy at age 25.

    Rigby was a popular book illustrator and published his own book "From Midsummer to Martinmass - a West Cumberland Idyll 1891".

    He exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the United Kingdom. He was a founding member of the Lake Artists Society. He was commissioned for a a picture for the library in Queen Mary's dolls house.

    Cuthbert Rigby passed away in 1935.
