    Daisy Marguerite Hughes was born in Los Angeles, CA on Jan. 24, 1882. Hughes studied art with L. E. Garden MacLeod at the Los Angeles School of Art and Design, University of California, Art Students League in New York City, Ralph Johonnot, C. P. Townsley, and Rudolph Schaeffer.

    A lifelong resident of Los Angeles, she exhibited locally and taught art in the public schools. The artist died on July 15, 1968.
