When Dan Christensen was attending Chadron State College in the late 1950s, art instructors there recognized the young painter's talent and encouraged him to attend the Kansas City Art Institute.
Fifty years later, Christensen, who died in 2007 at age 64, is a highly regarded painter, likely the most noted, important Nebraska native artist of his era.
