    A graduate of Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles in 1968, Daniel Cytron worked briefly as a draftsman for the architect Richard Neutra.

    Beginning in 1967 until Francis' death Cytron worked with Sam Francis, first as a studio assistant. After gaining a coating technology diploma, he worked with Sam developing paint, ink and miscellaneous coatings for Sam Francis projects. Cytron subsequently set up the Litho Shop producing its first prints at his home studio.

    Cytron has pursued his own art for decades, continuing his residency in Southern California. His utter devotion to fully saturated color, only achievable with pigment-rich paints and inks, at one time prompted him to make his own.
