About Daniel Spiegle

  • Biography

    Born on Dec. 10, 1920 in Cosmopolis, WA. Spiegle came to California with his family in 1925. He grew up in Humboldt County and then served in the Navy during WWII. Upon discharge, he entered the Chouinard Art Institute for four years of study. While living in Los Angeles, he originated the comic strip "Hopalong Cassidy" which was syndicated nationally. In his leisure he painted watercolors. In 1967 he settled in Carpinteria, CA and continues to live there today. Member: Nat'l Cartoonist Society; Oxnard AA.
