    Darío de Urzay trained at the Fine Arts Faculty of the UPV-EHU, working as a lecturer at the Fine Arts Faculty of the Basque Country from 1983 to 1988, when he travelled to London for a year's stay. From 1989 he settled in New York, alternating his artistic work in this city with his work in Bilbao, until 1994, when he returned to this Spanish city (with a break between 1998 and 1999, when he returned to New York). Among other awards, in 1983 he received the First Prize in the "Gure Artea" competition; and the National Graphic Art Prize from the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts
