    The following information was submitted in November of 2006 by the artist's wife, Judith A. Curtis:

    Born April 24, 1950 in Brookline, Massachusetts, David P. Curtis received an early introduction to painting from his father, marine artist Roger W. Curtis (1910-2000). After graduating from Gloucester High School, on Cape Ann (MA), David began work in the atelier of R.H. Ives Gammell, spending several years with this noted Boston School painter.

    Curtis is an active member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the North Shore Arts Association and Rockport Art Association. A past President of the RAA, he also serves regularly as a juror for numerous art organizations.

    Primarily an outdoor oil landscape painter and art instructor, Curtis has won numerous awards for his work, which is shown and collected internationally, and he is listed in Who's Who in the East.

    He is also mentioned in Patricia Jobe Pierce's book, Edmund C. Tarbell and the Boston School of Painting, as well as the American Art Review article, 'Legacy - Families of the North Shore Arts Association,' June 2002.

    David Curtis has been instructing outdoor oil painting classes and workshops since 1993.
