    Best known for his work as one of the 'Batman' artists, Dick Sprang was born in Fremont, Ohio, in 1915. His career in commercial art began at age 15, when he began painting signs and advertisements for local businesses, and posters for movie theaters. Sprang later moved to New York, where he worked as a free-lance artist. In 1941 he joined DC Comics, and began a long career in drawing 'Batman' comics. Interestingly, his work was all anonymous, as he was hired to be a ghost artist. His name did not appear on a single 'Batman', instead they were all signed Bob Kane. Sprang worked for DC Comics for 20 years and, apart from a few brief jobs for Real Fact Comics, he worked only on the big name comics - Superman, Batman and their ancillary charac...
