Best known for his work as one of the 'Batman' artists, Dick Sprang was born in Fremont, Ohio, in 1915. His career in commercial art began at age 15, when he began painting signs and advertisements for local businesses, and posters for movie theaters. Sprang later moved to New York, where he worked as a free-lance artist. In 1941 he joined DC Comics, and began a long career in drawing 'Batman' comics.
