    Gerhard Goßmann completed an apprenticeship as a type and chromolithographer in Berlin between 1928 and 1932 and attended evening drawing classes at the Charlottenburg School of Arts and Crafts. From 1932 to 1935, he studied at the Higher Graphic Arts School in Berlin. From 1935 onward, he devoted himself to book design. From 1945, he initially worked as an art teacher, and from 1955 as a freelance graphic artist. He became known to a wide audience, particularly for his detailed yet vibrant, imaginative, and atmospheric illustrations of both classic children's and adventure books and classics of world literature. Goßmann illustrated approximately 250 works of world literature. – An exceptionally charming and detailed presentation.
