    Doris Jean McCarthy (AKA: Doris McCarthy) is a painter, sculptor, printmaker, educator and author. She was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In 1913, her family moved to Toronto, Ontario, which is still (as of 2009) her home.

    Her primary mediums are oil, watercolour, acrylic, gouache, woodblock print, lithograph and mixed mediums. Her subjects are landscapes, seascapes, harbours, figures, genre, still life, religion and the Arctic.
