    Dorothy Eaton was born in East Orange, New Jersey in 1893. She studied at Smith College, Columbia University, and at the Art Students League in New York City with Kenneth Hayes Miller.

    The artist was a member of the Society of Independent Artists and the National Association of Women Artists. Dorothy Eaton became a committed painter of the American Scene and exhibited widely. She was included in exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC and the National Academy of Design in New York City.
