Trained in both painting and architecture, Drago? Morarescu emerged from the Bucharest art scene of the 1940s as an artist whose work bridged the fine and decorative arts. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts between 1944 and 1947 and completed his architectural studies at the Faculty of Architecture in 1949. His formation was shaped by courses in Early Christian, Byzantine and Romanian art history taught by Professor I. D. ?tefanescu. Working across tempera, gouache, pastel, metal sculpture, printmaking and fresco, Morarescu developed a distinctive visual language grounded in structural discipline and ornamental sensibility.
