    Duncan Crockford was born in Tobermory, Mull, Scotland, 1921. His mother was Catherine MacKinnon. He first started drawing at the age of 13 and shortly after won a Sunday Times newspaper award. He trained at the Glasgow School of Art under MacGregor White, a Royal Scotland Academy trained landscape and marine painter. He painted for Sir Charles Forte, who owned hotels in London and England and also did murals in the Cafe Royal and the Isle of Wight.

    Crockford emigrated to Canada in 1954 and settled in Alberta. His works are signed 'Duncan' and some paintings are included in the Rockefeller Foundation. Before he died in 1992, his last address was EL RANCHO, BEARS PAW, CALGARY, CANADA.
