Edgar Karl Alfons Ende was a German surrealist painter whose work is considered one of the most significant contributions to 20th-century German surrealism. He was the father of the novelist Michael Ende, author of The Neverending Story.

Ende trained as a decorative painter and attended the Altona School of Arts and Crafts from 1916 to 1920. In 1925, he joined the Altona Artists' Association, and later became a member of the Munich Secession. His early surrealist paintings gained critical attention in the 1930s but were condemned as degenerate art by the Nazi regime. From 1936 onward, he was forbidden to paint or exhibit publicly.
