    Edouard Frédéric Wilhelm Richter, born June 18, 1844 in Paris where he died March 4, 1913, was a French Orientalist painter.

    His mother was Dutch and he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague before entering the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris where he was the student of Ernest Hébert and Léon Bonnat. His first exhibition took place in 1866. He is best known for his orientalist paintings.
