    Édouard Vallet, son of French parents from the Dauphiné, first worked for a Geneva book printer and visited the École des arts industriels. He studied wood engraving with Alfred Martin, Pierre Pignolat and Barthélemy Menn.

    In 1910, the artist moved to Savièse, where he increasingly put the Wallisian rural population on the canvas. Soon afterwards landscapes and views of Sion, where he spent the winter time. Édouard Vallet was widely acknowledged by his earthly, often placative pictures.
