    Edward Okun was born in 1872 in Wólka Zegrzynska. He was a student of Wo jCiech Gerson in 1890-91 in the Warsaw Drawing Class. In 1891-93 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow with Izydor Jablonski and Jan Matejko. He continued his studies in 1893 in Munich with A. Albe and in Paris at Académie Julian with JP Laurens. In 1897 Edward married Zofia Wanda Tolkemit, the daughter of a landowner. Together they left for Munich, and then via Hungary to Rome. They lived there, with some breaks, for 20 years. There, Okun took part in the life of the Polish artistic colony. He traveled around Italy to Sorrento, Amalfi, Venice, Padua, Ravenna, Florence and Siena. He returned to Poland in 1921 and became a professor at the School of Fine...
