    Born in Somerfield, Ohio, Wilbur Hamilton became an important member of the Boston School of Painting. He studied at Ecolé de Beaux Arts in Paris and at the Academy Julian.

    He was a member of Boston's Copley Society and St. Botolph Club and was a medal recipient at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, 1915.

    He taught at Massachusetts Normal Art School, and his work is represented in the collections of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
