    The following is from Walter Carroll, Jr., whose source is information is S.E. H., of Slidell, La., whose father, the late Ernest Eustis, knew the Wood family, including Burris and Ella Miriam Wood.

    Ella Miriam Wood studied at the Newcomb Art School, New Orleans, under Ellsworth and/or William Woodward. Information from NEWCOMB POTTERY, An enterprise for Southern Women, 1895-1940, Jessie Poesch, 1984, is that she entered the Normal Art program of the Newcomb Art School in 1905, completing her course study in 1908, when she was awarded a Diploma in Art.

    She was listed as a post-graduate student in 1910-1911 and as an Instructor in Watercolor for 1912-1913. Miss Wood's concentration was in the field of painting, as distinguishe...
