    Elsa Gramcko was born in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela in 1925, and in 1939 her family relocated to Caracas. Her artistic career began in 1953 when she produced her first figurative works. In 1955 she began auditing the classes of Alejandro Otero in the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Artes Aplicadas in Caracas.

    She was deeply influenced by the geometric movement of the 50s but it was not until 1957 that her geometric phase begins. It is during this period that she began to participate in the Salons of Venezuelan art in the Museo de Bellas Artes.

    In 1959 she joined other Venezuelan artists in representing Venezuela in the V Bienal de São Paolo. She continued to exhibit her work in numerous individual and group shows both in venezue...
