She studied at the Dresden School of Applied Arts with Max Frey, Arno Drescher and Georg Erler, and later at the Dresden Academy with Rudolf Schramm- Zittau. Elsa was a German portrait and animal painter, draftsman, graphic artist, book illustrator and press illustrator, known especially for her theater drawings.
