    Eliy Mikhailovich Belyutin (1925-2012) was an artist and art theorist, one of the leaders of unofficial art. He studied at the Moscow Art Institute (1942–1947), his teachers were A.V. Lentulov, P.V. Kuznetsov, L.A. Bruni.

    Since 1954, he headed the Experimental Studio of Painting and Graphics, created at the City Association of Book and Graphic Artists. In November 1962, he took part in the organization of an exhibition in the Manege dedicated to the thirtieth anniversary of the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

    On December 1, 1962, this exhibition was visited by N.S. Khrushchev, who was outraged by avant-garde works. This scandal made E.M. Belyutin famous, his paintings began to be exhibited abroad.
