    Emil Cauer was born in 1867 in Bad Kreuznach. Cauer, the younger, learned in the studio of his father Carl Cauer. In 1886 and 1887, Cauer the Younger learned in the studio of his uncle Robert Cauer (1831-1893) in Rome. Beginning in 1888 he studied with Otto Lessing (1846-1912) at the teaching establishment of the Kunstgewerbe museum Berlin. In 1898 Emil Cauer the Younger founded his own studio in Berlin, and not only created numerous portraits, but also small sculptures and monuments on official commission for installation in public spaces, e.g. for the cities of Hagen and Berlin. Works by Emil Cauer the Younger can be found today in the Berlin National Gallery.
