    Émile Ancelet was born in 1865 and passed away in 1951. A French Pointillist painter, taxidermist, and collector, Ancelet studied at the Beaux-Arts de Lille under Alphonse Colas and Pharaon de Winter. In 1890, he founded the Société des artistes lillois, supporting fellow artists in Lille.

    His artistic direction changed significantly after meeting Georges Seurat in 1892, which led him to explore Divisionism and Pointillism. His paintings often depicted rural landscapes, particularly emphasizing the play of light on flowering trees.
