    Emma Levinia Swan chiefly painted still life oils. She was trained in technical drawing under her father, a cameo cutter. She trained under Abbott Thayer from 1889-90. She traveled through Germany and Holland (1895) sketching and studying works of the great masters. She taught at the Rhode Island School of Design from 1902-1909 and was a member of Providence Art Club.
