    German landscape painter and draftsman. Studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art with Peter Jansen, Wilhelm Schmurr and Willy Sparrow. Also studied at the United Herzlich Baden Art School in Karlsruhe under Hans Thoma.

    Stayed in Venice, Florence and Lucca. From 1908 turned to neo-impressionism.

    Recurring motifi is the Lower Rhine and its surroundings illustrate. With his subjects and of plein-air painting, he stands in the tradition of the French Impressionists and the Düsseldorf School.
