About Erich Zimmermann

  • Biography

Erich Zimmermann was a German landscape painter whose career was shaped by both academic training and the artistic environment of northern Germany. Zimmermann studied at the Nordic Art Academy in Bremen, where his instructors included Prof. W. Menz, A. Frieling, E. Kleinhempel, and August Fricke. He later continued his studies in Munich under Prof. Burger, further refining his approach to landscape painting.

From 1960 onward, Erich Zimmermann lived near Worpswede, a region long associated with artists drawn to its distinctive moorland scenery. His work reflects the influence of this landscape tradition, combining formal training with a close engagement with the natural environment of northern Germany.
