    Ernest Bieler (1863 - 1948)

    Ernest Bieler was an important Swiss painter, draftsman, printmaker and muralist. He was born in Rolle, Switzerland and died in Lausanne, Switzerland. He also lived in Paris, France (c.1880 - 1892, and after 1909); Geneva, Switzerland (c.1892); and Savièse, Switzerland (c.1896 - 1948). (1)

    His mediums included oil, tempera, watercolor, gouache*, pure fresco*, ink, charcoal, pastel, chalk, acrylic, pencil, mosaic*, stained glass, mixed mediums, drypoint* and woodcut* prints. His subjects were landscapes, village scenes, portraits, nudes, genre*, flowers; and the local Swiss customs, costumes and traditions. His styles were Realism*, Art Nouveau* and Symbolism*...
