Ernest Guerin was born in 1887. After finishing his studies at the renowned École des beaux-arts in Rennes, Ernest Pierre Guérin settled as an artist in Paris. His dramatically illuminated and atmospheric landscapes, executed in watercolour and gouache, enjoyed great popularity with the public. He successfully participated in several exhibitions of the Paris Salon. The main subject of his works is the landscape, as well as the rugh and sometimes wild nature of Brittany. He was interested in the tough life of the rural population and the regional habits and customs.
