    Erzsebet Hikady Czene (1911-2008)

    Born in Budapest, she was the wife of the well known Hungarian painter Béla Czene. She studied at the College of Fine Arts in Budapest from 1929 to 1934 under the supervision of Gyula Rudnay. In 1938 she won a scholarship to the Collegium Hungaricum and she spent the next two years in Rome. Her first solo exhibition was in 1931 in Budapest's Szinyei Salon.

    She painted mainly landscapes, representational works and still-lifes. In 1952 she was awarded the artistic prize of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
