Initially attracted by sculpture, Eugène Faure studied with François Rude and David d'Angers. More attracted to painting, he studied in the studio of Charles Gleyre. Friend of Théodore Ravanat, he frequented the painters of Grenoble meeting in Proveysieux, by creating the work of dogs and the chamois head on the facade of the village inn.
