    Eugen Jettel (1848, Janowice, Czechoslovakia -1901, Lussingrande, Croatia), was a landscape painter who began his art studies by entering the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts at age 15. Jettel studied there until 1868 under artist Albert Zimmerman and among fellow students Schindler, Russ, Ditscheiner and Ribarz, all early admirers of the Barbizon School of painters.

    Joining the newly-founded Wien Künstlerhaus (Vienna City Art House) in 1868, Jettel then befriended Austrian genre artist, August von Pettenkofen, and began selling his works to Viennese art dealer, Georg Plach.
