    Hippolyte Forest, painter and lithographer, was born in Strasbourg on October 24, 1808. He was student of the painter Camille Roqueplan. He collaborated with Grandville (aka Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard, 1803-1847). Forest exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1847 to 1866. As an engraver, we owe him a number of albums, including caricatures in the genre Henri Monnier and Grandville. He collaborated with La Silhouette, La Caricature and Charivari among others, and produced lithographs and illustrated vignettes.
