A reclusive outsider artist, Eugene Von Bruenchenhein lived near Milwaukee, and over the course of 40 years produced thousands of paintings and sculptures in a musty cellar. A plaque over the kitchen door of his house read: "Eugene Von Bruenchenhein, Free Lance Artist, Poet and Sculptor, innovator, Arrow maker and Plant man, Bone artifacts constructor, Photographer and Architect Philosopher."
