Against a background of classical painting and an interest in the great masters young Evert Lundquist was an oddity in the Swedish art world. Sometimes perceived as outdated by his contemporaries, he was headstrong and uninterested in trends - still it feels he is today a strong contemporary, current and vibrant in its painterly strength. He was never aware of the current art trends in Europe, he preferred to go his own way.
