    Born in Milan, Fabrizio Clerici (1913-1993) moved with his family to Rome in 1920, where he graduated from his studies in architecture at Scuola Superiore di Architettura in 1937. He met the painter Giorgio de Chirico who encouraged him to draw.

    Clerici's first exhibition took place in 1943. In the following years, he made the acquaintance of Leonor Fini, Salvador Dali and Fabius von Gugel whose surrealistic fantastic approach deeply influenced the artist, as well as the impressions Clerici gained during his extensive travels through the Middle East in 1952 and 1953. After returning to Rome, Clerici also focused on panel painting.
