Fadi Yazigi was born in Lattakia, Syria in 1966, he studied Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus. Since obtaining his BFA in 1988, Yazigi has built an oeuvre that consists of two strands of creativity, not solely in medium but also in subject matter, direction and mood. His playful robust sculptures of smiling figures are at once whimsical and enchanting, yet his sobering works on canvas suggest a more pensive, graver outlook on life and a distinct sense of foreboding.
