    Fannie Moody (British, 1861-1948) was born in England in 1861, and was the daughter of the British genre & animal painter, Francis Wollaston Moody (British, 1824-1886), who was also an instructor in decorative art at the South Kensington Museum. She is primarily known for her dog paintings, sketches & portraits, various other animal scenes to include playful & humorous animal behavior, as well as miniature dog portraits on ivory.

    She was for the most part self taught and never had any art education except for a few lessons in anatomy with the celebrated lion and animal painter John Trivett Nettleship (British, 1841-1902), which included skinning cats and dogs for which she had certain distaste.
