    Born in the province of Granada, Federico García Lorca studied law, literature and philosophy, first at the University of Granada, and then at the Complutense in Madrid until 1928. There he met the director Luis Buñuel and the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. With Dalí he maintained a close friendship. In 1929, Lorca went to New York and studied at the Columbia University. In 1930, he traveled to Cuba.
