There he met the director Luis Buñuel and the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. With Dalí he maintained a close friendship. In 1929, Lorca went to New York and studied at the Columbia University. In 1930, he traveled to Cuba. His literary works are characterized by a mixture of secular tradition and the modernism of the 20th century. Many works deal with social-critical contents. In 1936, at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, he was murdered for political reasons. One of Lorca's most famous works is the tragedy 'The House of Bernarda Alba'.... Read full biography
