About Felice Boselli

  • Biography

Felice Boselli was a highly productive and successful painter who almost exclusively specialized in still lifes. His style was strongly influenced by the naturalism of the Lombard school, which he got to know whilst in Milan. A similar manner of still life is found among the Flemish still life painters of the 16th century, such as Pieter Aertsen and Joachim Beuckelaer.

The vividly coloured, pastose style of his later works with their shimmering reflections of light are reminiscent of the Neapolitan school.
