Felipe considers himself a chronicler, politician, diplomat, activist and professor, but above all he is a Mexican painter and sculptor who explores and navigates the contemporary world. His visual learning began with inspiration from muralist José Chávez Morado, sculptors Feliciano Béjar and Mathias Goeritz. For three years he wrote in Mexico City Times magazine using "Montenegro" as his pen name. Towards the end of the 60's he represented Mexico in exhibitions and art fairs in Texas, New Jersey and Argentina.
