He studied at the School of Plastic Arts Cristóbal Rojas of Caracas, between 1976 and 1979. Thereafter, he entered the School of Art of the Pedagogical University Institute of Caracas, 1980-1986. He was awarded second prize by program PSI, Museum of the Institute of Contemporary Art of New York, 1991-1992.
